I’m a coffee addict. I love it in a mug, on the skin, in a cake. Apart from the amazing taste and smell, coffee has some wonderful benefits when applied to the skin. Unlike salt or sugar scrubs which I personally find too rough, coffee grounds exfoliate your skin gently.
Coffee has a high antioxidant capacity and contains one super ingredient – caffeine. Caffeine is a natural stimulant that helps to improve blood flow and circulation to the skin.
The coffee granules help to remove dead skin cells and according to research, caffeine that penetrates the skin is able to stimulate lymph drainage and increase blood flow. When you rub in the coffee scrub all over your cellulite parts, the alkaloid caffeine penetrates your skin. It dehydrates fatty cells which makes water disappear from the surface of your skin, leaving it looking smoother and tighter.
About twice a week, I do this wonderful homemade body scrub that makes the skin look instantly rejuvenated and helps to diminish the look of cellulite. On top of that, your skin will feel super smooth and moisturized thanks to coconut oil.
You don’t have to buy those pricey coffee body scrubs at the drug store. Make your own at home! It’s easy, quick and you’ll know what’s inside.
To boost the anti-cellulite effect of this scrub, add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil into the mixture. Grapefruit essential oil is one of the best anti-cellulite ingredients out there. It contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps to reduce fluid retention and swelling. It also flushes the toxins out of the body and can improve the appearance of cellulite.
Make it at home easily
To make this homemade coffee scrub, you will need:
1/2 cup coffee grounds (fresh or used from a coffee machine)
1/4 cup virgin coconut or olive oil
5 drops grapefruit essential oil
In a glass jar, mix coffee grounds (fresh or used from a coffee machine will also do the trick) with coconut or olive oil and add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil (optional).
Apply this mixture on tights and belly with circular movements and rub for a few minutes (I prefer to massage the scrub into the dry skin before taking shower). Enjoy the AMAZING smell 🙂
You can also use this wonderful coffee scrub to exfoliate the whole body, even your face. Wash off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
Be very careful when stepping out of the shower or tub, as the oil in the body scrub makes the floor slippery!
Use 2-3 times a week and let me know how you like it 🙂 I can’t wait for your thoughts!
